Does solar power work through windows?

Or does the glass remove most or all of the energy contained in sunlight?

Just wondered if I power one of those portable solar chargers if I can leave it working during the day next to a window.
Thanks for the answers.

I just wasn’t sure which part of the spectrum is used for solar energy. I read somewhere that modern windows have a layer that cuts out certain parts of the light spectrum so that curtains and paper etc don’t fade as much when behind windows (remember faded yellow paper?)

It works fine through windows. You lose a little energy to the glass, but it’s not a significant amount and solar panels still work fine in indoor sunlight.
