With more and more people taking up DIY solar power projects these days, I thought it would be a good idea to look at the advantages that result from building your own homemade solar panels.

Advantages of building your own homemade solar panels

1. Money Saving :

You will save thousands of dollars by building and installing your own DIY Solar Power System, the cost of installing a retail kit can run into the many thousands of dollars, building your own system will set you back around 0 in materials.
Once installed there is very little to no maintenance, just give them a clean every now and then to ensure the panels are exposed at their maximum surface area.
The energy produced is free! That’s right by going solar you will reduce your energy bill substantially, if your households anything like mine you can expect to save hundreds of dollars, if not thousands per year.
As it is a free renewable energy source you are no long subjected to increases in price of traditional power sources like gas.
Sell your excess power that you no longer require from the grid, back to the power station.

2. Help the Environment :

Solar energy is “clean” energy. It does not produce harmful emissions and by-products during, harvesting, production or manufacturing.
Its renewable energy, provided the sun continues to shine, we will never run out of solar power.
By replacing many other more environmentally harmful options, it helps the environment recover from the beating it has been taking.

3. Live “off the grid” :

By making our own homemade solar panels we can be free of government regulations, restrictions and charges.
Get power in areas that currently are not on the power grid, you can put together diy solar power projects for your camper or cabin.
Never be at the mercy of power outages again. With your own supply, power outages won’t bother you or restrict your lifestyle.
